Low Carbon Energy Assessor (Residential) to produce Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

PDF E-mail

Only Low Carbon Energy Assessors already registered with CIBSE Certification can apply for accreditation to produce domestic energy performance certificates through CIBSE Certification.

To extend your registration to produce domestic energy performance certificates:

  • Book CIBSE's one day training on the theory of SAP assessment (available from autumn 2008)
  • Fill in an application form (available shortly).
  • Apply for a criminal records bureau check.
  • Demonstrate your competence in the use of both SAP and rdSAP. Speak to your software provider about training and assessment in their SAP products. Dates and costs of training will be available on this site from September.
  • Submit your training and assessment certificates to CIBSE Certification, along with a photograph of yourself.
  • CIBSE Certification will contact you with information about your admission to the LCEA register
  • You will then need to submit a further five completed domestic certificates for assessment before you can be accredited as an LCEA (Domestic). It is envisaged that most LCCs will submit certificates which they have been commissioned to prepare but if no commissions have been received at the time of application, candidates can provide a certificate of their own home and other dwellings to which they have access. Because of the onerous assessment requirements for domestic accreditation there is an additional joining fee for this scheme of £500.
